Diaper Care Instructions

Washing Cloth Diapers

Washing cloth diapers is easy. Let’s start with hemp diapers. Hemp has naturally occurring oils that need to be washed before maximum performance is achieved. Hemp diapers will become more absorbent with each washing. The hemp fiber should be washed at least three times before wearing in very hot water with 1 cup of vinegar in the rinse cycle. Once prewashed, cloth diapers like our Growing Greens Cotton Diaper are ready to use. Both hemp and cotton diapers can be washed in hot water using a biodegradable detergent like our Washing Greens All Natural Detergent.  Occasionally add 1/2 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle for softness, absorption and to restore PH. Diapers will shrink to size, mostly in length, with the first three washes. Tumble dry or hang in sunlight. Using fabric softeners or bleach will ruin diapers and possibly harm your child’s skin. Please do not use. RINSING IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STEPS IN CLEANING CLOTH DIAPERS! Be sure to rinse your diapers completely.

Special Note:

Please do not boil Babee Greens diapers. Although made to withstand high temperature, doing so may result in damaging poly resin snaps and natural rubber in elastic.
